Mount Passot
Mount Passot’s hill is one of the most visited place in Nosy Be. Its peak is 329 m high and provides a 360° vantage point by its panoramic terrace. The site is known for its astonishing beauty and exceptional biodiversity. It is surrounded by 8 small crater lakes (considered as sacred) and they shelter unique freshwater fishes. This natural belvédère will allow landscapes lovers to enjoy a fantsatic view over the Mozambique channel and thus create unforgettable memories.
The site offers many pedestrian circuits to be discovered with or withough a guide. Among them, the Antsamanavaka circuit that will let you see lakes, crocodiles, medicinal plants, teak forests, waterfalls or community reforestation zones. The Antsidihy circuit is ideal for birdwatching, visiting Sakalava villages, roaming through ylang ylang plantations, etc. The Amparihibe circuit (longer than the others) will allow you to take a walk in the middle of orchids, ylang ylang flowers and Sakalava vestiges.
The Mount Passot is a former volcano. It owes its name to the captin Pierre Passot who was part of the French marine army artillery. Nosy Be’s archipelago was indeed under the protection of the French.
